A 74-Year-Old Woman Sells Her Home to Travel the World with Her Son

Have you ever thought of selling your house, getting rid of a lot of your “stuff”, putting important things in storage and hitting the road?

That’s what I’m doing with my son! Want to follow us?

In a time when many are embracing a slower pace of life, I am choosing to embark on an exciting adventure. I have decided to sell my home and explore Canada with my son Martin for at least six months. With an open heart and a determined spirit, we are ready to embrace the unknown.

After our Canadian journey, I plan to visit France & Spain with my daughter and her family in the fall. This will be my first trip overseas, fulfilling a lifelong dream of exploring Europe.

I’m already looking forward to returning to Europe with Martin in 2026 for another unforgettable experience.

For me, this isn’t just about travel—it’s about reclaiming life on my own terms. After decades of work, raising a family, dealing with my son’s heart problems and then my husband’s health struggles, I’m trading comfort for curiosity and possessions for experiences

Together, Martin and I are embarking on a journey that will take us from Atlantic Canada (Moncton, NB) to the Pacific (Vancouver, BC) and then to Europe. Later, we’d like to visit southwestern USA.

We invite you to follow our adventure — one that promises breathtaking landscapes, unexpected encounters, and taking the time to enjoy life.

WHAT OUR TRIP WILL LOOK LIKE

I am an artist (mostly watercolors) and I like to read and write. Martin is a musician and his other passion is hockey.

We both like stand-up comedy, meeting people, visiting art galleries, taking part in cultural activities such as slam-poetry, theatre or music. Maybe we’ll see a hockey game or two.

We do love nature and beautiful scenery. I’m sure we’ll get our fill of that across our picturesque country.

We plan on staying in Air B&Bs most of the time but we know people in various spots that we want to visit: my grandson in Montreal (as well as a niece and a couple of friends), my granddaughter in Toronto, nieces in Ottawa, Marty’s friend JF in Fort MacMurray and nephews in Alberta.

We are in no rush, so we may sleep in one place a couple of nights, or a week or two.  We plan to stay in the Vancouver area for a month or more.

We are FLEXIBLE and will adjust our schedule as we progress across the country.

I’ll keep you updated on this blog (hopefully daily or at least twice a week.) We’ll also have a vlog (video blog) and we plan on doing a LIVE once a week.

We hope that you will follow us on our journey!
