Yesterday, we had a short drive of just a couple of hours to Winnipeg. Thanks to a friend of my daughter-in-law, we were able to get a special “friends and family” rate at the Hilton. The hotel was very comfortable, a welcome treat! I had a bout of stomach flu during the night, but fortunately, I’m feeling much better today.

After enjoying a delicious complimentary breakfast, we stepped out into a beautiful sunny day. Our original plan included a museum visit, but since it was closed, we opted to spend some time outdoors at the Assiniboine Park Zoo. It turned out to be a fantastic decision! The zoo is spacious, well-maintained, and fully accessible, with paved walkways throughout. It features a wide variety of animals from around the world, and our favorite moment was watching the polar bears swimming playfully.

We walked over 6,000 steps and still didn’t manage to see everything—it’s that big! The mild breeze and radiant sunshine made for perfect zoo weather. If you ever find yourself in Winnipeg, we highly recommend a visit.

Later, we headed to the Forks Market. It was clean, lively, and offered a great range of food choices. I enjoyed a tasty one-piece fish and chips, followed by a cappuccino, while Martin went for a chili dog. Now we’re back at the hotel for a bit of rest, and we’re thinking of checking out a comedy club tonight.

Tomorrow, we’ll hit the road again toward Regina, and afterward, we’ll spend a few days in Red Deer with my nephew Paul and his wife Judy. We’re really looking forward to it!

I’m having a wonderful time, as is my son! 🙂
